Echinacea Root Tincture
Echinacea Root Tincture
Echinacea should be a staple in any wild healer’s medicine cabinet.
Something that is not commonly known about echinacea is the ability to fight off bacterial infections. I personally use echinacea as an herbal alternative anytime I would need an antibiotic when feeling ill. Echinacea mainly works as an alterative, by purifying the blood and lymph system. This can help for anything from mild toxins to the more serious dangers like sepsis and blood poisoning. This can be invaluable for disaster preparation and herbal first aid knowledge.
Commonly used to ward off a cold “at the first sign,” echinacea can also be useful for ramping up a sluggish immune system right when you notice that sore throat, cough, or fuzzy head feeling. Echinacea is renowned for having a stimulating effect on the immune system, and so if you choose to use it this way, it is is important to start using echinacea at the beginning of an ailment, strengthening it from the start, rather than ramping it up after it has been fighting for a while and is already exhausted.
Echinacea can also be used to clean a wound as it kills bacteria, promotes lymph movement, and can be healing to the skin.
A good echinacea tincture will tingle in your mouth when you taste it! This analgesic helps with pain relief and can be particularly beneficial for sore throats (especially strep) and toothaches, especially when you take its antiseptic ability into account.
